Enric Majoral is a self-taught jewelry designer who, since 1973, has lived on and
received inspiration from Formentera, an island off the east coast of Spain. Enric
makes jewelry in 18-karat yellow gold and silver in styles owing much to artistic
intuition, the soft shapes and authentic coloring of nature, and the cultures that have
preceded him on Formentera. In addition to textural gold and silver creations with
cabochon gemstones, the innovative pieces often contain turquoise or coral.
His aim is to extract pure, simple lines from the forms that surround us. His
motivation comes from seeing jewelry as an act of artistic creation and a form of
communication —jewelry as a basic element of image creation and as a symbol of
present-day culture. While exceedingly well constructed and finished, Majoral’s
jewelry has a simple and sincere look based on familiar universal elements.
