Tension and Tequila

A pop country love-hate song from Ashley Kutcher has the words “tension and tequila*” in it … When I hear it I think of Niessing’s “Tension” diamond rings and a shot of tequila to celebrate! Not exactly what she had in mind, but that’s OK!

Today I spoke with a client about the name “Tension Ring,” or “Spannring®” in German. Metal has tension in it which creates pressure that holds the diamond. That pressure is measured in PSI (pounds per square inch) and these rings have hundreds of pounds of pressure. The client, like others before him, suggested the rings would better be called “pressure” settings. I get it. Call them what you will, but do get one!

Some will choose a Niessing Tension Ring for engagement/wedding. Others will choose one for any other reason in the whole wide world 😊.

Other questions that arise around Niessing Tension Rings include:

Q: Can you use my diamond? A: Often yes! Let us look at it or see its “diamond grading report” and we’ll determine if it’s suitable.

Q: Can you put a sapphire in it? A: No, sorry, only diamonds and natural ones at that.

Q: They look thick. Are they comfortable? A: Yes, they’re thick (they must be) and yes, they are comfy! There’s a profile (shape) that’s right for every finger shape. You’ll be amazed how good they feel (not just not bad, but good!).

Q: Is it secure? A: Yes, these rings are expected to hold the diamonds unless some highly unusual event occurs. And that pertains to other types of settings as well.

Q: Are these new? A: Nope, the first tension ring was created at Niessing in 1979, the year I graduated high school

Come to HH to see our variety of Tension Rings including the fabulous new Niessing Era ring shown at the top of this photo! We are thrilled to offer the original to you and to answer your questions.
