The Girl with the Pearl…Everything

There is a painting by the Dutch artist Johannes Vermeer named “The Girl with the Pearl Earring.” That painting launched poems, a historical fiction book by Tracy Chevalier (a REALLY good read), and even a couple of films. However, for me, pearls were something my grandmothers wore and mystical things I was POSITIVE I was going to find inside the oysters my grandparents bought during our trips to Disney World (which, by the way, never had pearls in them). I was not a girl who wore pearls… until I was.

When I started working at HH, I was encouraged to wear the jewelry. For some reason, I chose the pearls first. Or maybe, the pearls chose me. When I put them on in the morning, they are cool and rigid, and when I take them off in the evening, they are warm and glowing from touching my skin all day, and they feel a little alive. I am a bit dejected after putting them away, and I like to imagine they are, too. I love mixing and matching the pearls and sometimes adding a Vario clasp to “spice” them up even more. I wear them with a fancy outfit, but they go great with jeans and a t-shirt, too!

Don’t be hesitant to try on these lovely pieces when you are here. You might find out, as I did, that you are indeed a Pearl Girl – a little bit gritty, but a whole lot graceful.
